Town regulations and severe site constraints dictated the general location of the pool, but not it’s specific orientation. Once construction setbacks were delineated, the pool was moved as far north as possible to maximize solar exposure. The site inventory and analysis indicated extensive ledge beneath the proposed pool location. Raising the pool elevation reduced the amount of blasting while also providing separation from the more active use area of the main backyard. The elevated location had the added benefit of removing the pool from the primary view zone, making it less visually prominent for the extended idle season. Local codes/regulations required a complete fence enclosure for the pool. Carefully locating the fence within existing vegetation provides peace of mind without feeling physically constrained.
