Questions to ask your Landscape

- Are you licensed? If so, where?
- How does the firm develop a design? Does one
person develop the design, or is it a collaborative effort?
- How will the landscape architect gather information
about your needs, goals, etc.
- What sets this landscape architect or firm apart from the rest?
- What does the landscape architect expect you to provide?
- Who in the firm will you be dealing
with directly? Is it the same person who will be designing the project?
- Will the designer follow
the project through to construction?
- How disruptive will construction be? How long does the landscape
architect think it will take to construct your project?
- What services does the landscape architect provide
during construction?
- Can the landscape architect provide a list of previous clients with whom he or she
has worked?
- How does the landscape architect establish fees? When will fee payments be expected?
Will you be able to relate fee payments to milestones in the landscape architects work?
- What will the
landscape architect show you along the way to explain the project? Will you see models, photo images, plans, perspective
sketches, cross-sections, etc.?
- How much experience has the landscape architect had with your particular
type of project or the permitting required?
- How busy is the landscape architect?
- How
does the landscape architect organize the process?
- How interested is the landscape architect in the project?
- How will the landscape architect establish priorities and make decisions?
